I had a bunch of Sims going through University. Among these were Karl Langerak (Don's son) and Don's other son by alien abduciton Dennis.
Both had twin sisters, don't know if that is relevant.
Both were doing badly and on Academic Probation, last time I looked.
I left the game running (I still find Uni quite dull much of the time) knowing that they would most likely get kicked out. Both, of course, are Romance Sims and can't be bothered to stop flirting long enought to do assignments.

Looking at the game this morning, they are nowhere to be seen.
Most of the bunch have graduated. The two guys show up in the University phonebook, but as not having phones; so presumably they are unhoused.

The mad thing is they are not anywhere. Not in the Neighbourhood screen, not in the Uni, not in Pleasantview or Bluewater. shocked

Because I have Seasons I cannot look for them with SimPE or TS2Enhancer (neither seems to have Seasons-ability?). Is there any other way to look for them?

Can I get these guys back? Or do I assume they have eloped togetehr? (j/k - they didn't like each other much)

You can look at stuff with SimPE, just don't change anything.

I'd say the first step is to find out which lot they're supposed to be on.

Look in the main neighborhood sim bin.

That's the problem, they are not in ANY of the sim bins.

well.... sort of progress. I found Karl, in a dorm, still on academic probation.

But the other guy, Dennis, is showing up as "doesn't have a phone". And is nowhere in the game as far as I can see.

hm. Just another missing Sim. I have lost a few over the years, in circumstances like this. I was thinking yesterday. Angela Pleasant, in her first incarnation, went to Uni with her sister and disappeared one night without trace.

And a little boy disappeared, in one of my legay families. He simply never came back from school. And his mother missed him terribly, kept thinking about him.

Hubby says it's just like RL really sad

Maybe Dennis' other parent missed him and took him for a visit?

No clue why the little boy didn't come home from school tho!

I guess you could make a backup and try to use SimPE to move Dennis into Karl's dorm. The worst that could happen is you have to restore the backup...

They must have been off somewhere in the Twilight Zone. I'm wondering if some sequence of events triggered some routine that triggers refreshing the family bins.

The one time I had kids expelled from college, they ended up back in the neighborhood family bin. That was before I insalled Nightlife. Now I suppose the game has to figure out whether they need to go to the downtown bin or the neighborhood bin.

Downtown and main 'hood use the same bin. You can evict a family from one and move them into the other.

I get it. So if you want a family to move downtown, you just put them in the family bin, go to the downtown neighborhood, and move them in.

Yepper! I'd prolly do it the other way around... move a Sim from Uni to Downtown, then when they got married, move them to the main 'hood.

I get it. They graduate, move downtown to find a mate, and then out to the burbs.

Yes. There is an oddness with Sims that live Downtown though. With earlier EPs it seemed that if they married or "move-in" d a Sims from the base Hood, they brought a random but obscene amount of money with them.

At some point this appears to have been "fixed". My Sim living Downtown (Alexander Goth as it happened) married a Sim whose family had bags of money. She announced SHE was marrying the rich Sim and fulfilled a want... and brought $1 with her!

So I think her family didn't approve of her marriage to a Goth.

cool
