Oh damn! I'm sorry you've lost your sims worlds.
I've heard that Glamour Life is a bugger...which is why I haven't gotten it.

OMG! I hadn't heard of Sims 2 deleting the downloads/custom content before. Should have expected it tho, since Sims 1 used to do it from time to time.

Uninstalling a pack, yes, I knew that could delete the 'hoods. FFS did that to Ghostman.

You've got our sympathy!

I'm wondering... have you checked your Downloads folder to see if the stuff is still there, but renamed from *.package to something like *.off?

I think that's what the game does when it turns off custom content, instead of actually deleting the files.

Ya know, if you'd had backups it wouldn't have happened.

The downloads folder completetly vanished when I unistalled Glamour Life. The annoying thing, the day before yesterday I tried to back my files up and it was about 12% from finishing and I had to turn off the computer. Then I forgot all about backing up anything! blush

Silly question, is there a folder somewhere on your puter with that 88% of your files in it?

Nope.Scoured the whole computer and everything I did before unistalling Glamour Life is gone.I've just spent a couple of hours re-downloading most of my lost stuff but as I have a memory like a goldfish I can't remember where some stuff is.Everything I made in Bodyshop has dissapeared as well.

Wow- that sounds terrible!

You, know (knocks-on-wood) despite all the "glitch" reports I've seen, Sims 2 has yet to unleash any bombs or anything on me, & I have all the EP/SP, including the "oh-so-feared" Pets.

Actually, I has yet to even crash-out on me (knocks-even-more-on-wood) & I had fairly regualr crash-outs with the Sims 1.

For me anyway, Sims 2 has proved far more stable that it's "parent".

Aha!It wasn't Glamour Life!
Yesterday when I loaded up the game it got to the loading screen and crashed. So I look in my downloads folder and take everything I recently downloaded out.The game worked.Today I downloaded a chair and some clothes and put them in my downloads folder. The game wouldn't load up so I took the clothes out of my folder.Still no joy. It's the chair!Dang that chair, made me lose everything because I downloaded before having to unistall and of course that deletes all the downloads!Dang it! bandhead

Oh heck!

Where'd you get that chair so the rest of us can avoid it?

Aw, rats. That's another reminder to me that it's been a while since I've backed up my Downloads folder.

I haven't had any problems with Glamour Life, either, unless you count one odd anomaly: Ever since I installed it, I usually have to start the game twice to get it to run. My guess is that it's failing to read the license from the CD so it exits without loading. It might be that the CD is slow to spin up, but I have never encountered this before.

Well, one answer to that would be to install the next EP so you can use the new disk to drive your game....

But my Pets disk rattles like mad razz waiting impatiently for Seasons.
