Feeling a little frail about my Teutonic roots this morning, a favourite uncle in Austria (who however, I hadn't seen for many years) died last night.

Heh, heh. Just wait till I can find the energy to finish out my first story on here. First, I have to tear myself away from the Apocalypse Legacy, which I play when I get burned out on Guitar Hero and Lineage 2.

I think I just heard about three games with which I was previously unfamiliar, unless Apocalypse Legacy, Guitar Hero, and Lineage 2 are things you do with The Sims 2.

Apocalypse Legacy is a Sims 2 Legacy Challenge with an Apocalypse handicap. You can read about it on http://www.legacychallenge.com for more details. It's basically a VERY strict set of rules designed to make it challenging. You have a lot of restrictions enforced upon you that you unlock as you reach the top level in each career track.

Guitar Hero is a Playstation 2 music game that you play with a special controller designed to look like a guitar. It has five fret buttons and a little flippy button that you strum as if you were strumming the strings. It's a lot of fun. Bye bye air guitar!

Lineage 2 is an online RPG. It's the one my usual online gang is currently running around in. Think something along the lines of Everquest or World of Warcraft, except lots prettier.

I've heard of that. I don't think I could keep from cheating tho.

Which tracks did you unlock first?

Well, I'm not very far. My founder (male) is going to be in medical, and I'm gonna try to snag him a wife that's already a Celebrity Chef if possible, otherwise I'll start her on that track. After that I'm not sure. I made him a Pleasure sim to make it really easy to get him in perma-plat before graduation (keep him on a downtown lot with a freely-accessible coffee pot and I can effectively freeze time while gathering up 50 first dates).

I'm also allowing myself certain hacks, but only things to make sim-management a little easier, like autoyak. Nothing that would give me a super advantage. I think they're all "awesome" hacks, actually. (MATY) Other handicaps I'm attempting are patriarchy (male-only heirs), free-roaming ghosts, storyteller (so there WILL be a story on here), and no aspiration objects. I'll probably keep score but that's not the point; I'm mainly interested to see how the story plays out. Will probably start posting that story before long; I may wait till my guy gets out of college first.

One of the unlocks gives you access to the aspiration objects, so they aren't really a cheat.

Yeah, but I'm gonna avoid usage of aspiration objects even if I manage to unlock them, just to get an extra few points. I never used them much anyway, actually; occasionally I'll use the energizer or smart milk but I think I can do without it. At least if I feel the need to use elixir, I can use the cow plant if it's unlocked.

I completely agree! The whole "aging thing" should be rethought, as well.
