How to Clone a Sim Using SimPE

  1. In SimPE, Tools... Neighborhood... Neighborhood Browser

  2. Open neighborhood. (For example, if you want to clone Pascal Curious, that would be Strangetown.) Wait for neighborhood to load. (It takes a while. I have to wait at least a minute before the progress bar even appears in the lower left corner.)

  3. Tools... Neighborhood... Sims Surgery

  4. Find the sim to be exported. (Hint: Sims are sorted alphabetically by first name.) Click on the sim's portrait to select.

  5. In the Sims Surgery window, in the "Patient Sim" block at the top, click on "Use".

  6. Click on "Export." The link is just above the sim's portrait.

  7. File saving window comes up. It will default to save the sim in your SavedSims folder; that's what you want. I usually add the sim's name to the file name, so the file for Pascal will be:
    N002_User00211_Pascal_Curious.package

  8. You're really done with SimPE at this point. The version of SimPE that I'm running will automatically go to the sim's editing tool. You can just quit SimPE or keep fooling around.

  9. If you want to export another sim, just go back to Tools... Neighborhood... Sims Surgery again.

  10. Once you've quit SimPE, start up Body Shop. (Now might be a good time to wash the dishes, clean out the garage, and mow the lawn while you wait for Body Shop to start up.) You should find the exported sim in your sim bin. Sometimes the preview doesn't match the sim, so you might have to click on a few sims to find the one you're looking for.

And that's all there is to it!
