While the Christmas party we had was a blast, the surrounding events were mired in death and disappointment.

My sister's husband passed away about a week and a half before Christmas. One of Lydia's dogs was diagnosed with an extremely rapidly progressing form of cancer that is untreatable and reared its ugly head practically overnight. We also found out a relative of hers was killed in Iraq. He was a newlywed and I believe an expectant father as well. And I just found out my boyfriend is gay. So now I'm single again and rebounding in a big way.

I just wanna crawl under a rock and wake up next year.

Goodness, I'm sorry to hear that. You take care of yourself and things will get better.
Warm hugs!

Oh man... it's like Heinlein's The Year of the Jackpot, where everything that could go wrong did, all at once.

Well, the deaths and everything certainly sucked, but there might actually be a bright side to the breakup and the circumstances surrounding it. Luckily we're going to be able to remain really close friends thanks to the type of relationship we had, and I've been able to get in touch with facets of my personality that I didn't know existed. So I'm gonna stick to my "reason for everything" philosophy and I'm not gonna get all in a funk over it.

<hugs Kaylyn>

At least when you have a time like this you know it has to be better next year.

All the best for the new year.

Well, if there's a reason for everything, I might have figured out the reason behind Lee coming into my life, even with all the heartbreak. I'm now dating one of his best friends, Eddie.

Lee was never really the affectionate type. It felt weird even just holding hands with him. So I suppose I should have trusted my instincts and known something was up with him. But if I hadn't hung around as long as I did, I wouldn't have gotten to know Eddie well enough to take an interest in him, and him in me. He finally worked up the courage to ask me out after fretting over mashing the "talk" button on his cell phone for a few hours...

We've only had one date but have talked on the phone every day I've been away. Even though we've only had the one date, he has NO problems with affection at all. Took me a little while to get used to all the attention after not having much from Lee! But I'm adjusting and looking forward to seeing him again when I get back home!
