It's that time of the year again! Now I'm wondering: Who here has worn a Halloween costume? What was your favorite?
I think my favorite was my wizard's outfit with a long grey velour hooded cloak, a red satin /dr/e/s/s/ robe, a tall pointy hat, and lots and lots and lots of sparkly trim. It had hidden pockets and everything!

Hm, not sure about favorite, but I think the oddest was the year I went as a paper bag.
The tiles for the new suspended ceiling in the kitchen came in paper wrappers, one of which didn't get badly ripped when the tiles were removed. So I said I wanted that wrapping for a Halloween costume!

My favorite costume was when I was on a huge Phantom of the Opera kick...I dressed up as the Phantom. I didn't have a mask so I used clown makeup and eyeliner and drew one onto my face. Found a hat and a cape and wore a white button up shirt with a black blazer, black pants, and black boots, and pulled my hair back into a ponytail so I didn't look too girly.

Oh, don't get me started! I looooooooove Halloween, and looooooooove dressing in costume. I don't think I have a favorite, though.
2 years ago, I was Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I liked that! I like my 80's punk rocker and 'Material Girl" costumes, too. I've been a geisha, Cleopatra, a sock-hopper, a cavewoman, a french maid, a lifeguard, a jester, Little Red Riding Hood, Queen of Mardi Gras - that was really awesome, I made the mask myself.
I dunno what I'm gonna do this year. I'm not even sure we're going anywhere. *pout*

Oh my! I was about to say that Kaylynn's Phantom of the Opera costume sounded really neat, but then Sandy trumpted all our aces!
There was one year I wore a Swamp Thing costume. Melva made a beautiful wedding dress with all the frills and fru-fru, except for one thing--it was all in shades of green! With bits of lichen and moss here and there. (I was wearing most of the lichen and moss, y'see.) Even her makeup was beautifully done in shades of green. She was the Bride of the Swamp Thing.
I think that was the year that one of our friends arrived on our doorstep as a scantily clad dryad, and another arrived with her dressed up as a tree.

Greg, your Swamp Thing costumes sound fabulous. I'd love to see pics. *hint*
I've had a Grumpy costume for Lenny sitting in a box for the past 4 years, waiting for me to make a Snow White costume. But I think I might just buy this one:
Cute, eh?!?!

That sounds like me growing up! We dreaded Halloween.. My mom made a bunny costume when I was in Kindergarten.. I wore that until 2nd grade.. LOL.. Not fun.
I make my sons costumes, so fars he's been a tiger, soldier, Oscar the grouch, a bear, Anakin Skywalker, and this year.. Marty the Zebra from Madagascar.. lol..
My dog... has been a rabbit, an elephant and a soldier:)
I'll have to find some pics:)
My favorites... The Zebra and for my dog, the elephant:)
(Yes, I dress my dog, lol)

My very first boyfriend ever had (still has, I think!) a Harrison Ford fetish. He would dress up as Indiana Jones. Every. Single. Halloween. He's recently started emailing me after discovering my MySpace and he's gotten married now, and his wife is getting a bit tired of it. So he's going Goth this year. He sent me a picture of his costume...looks like something out of The Crow. Knowing him and how he's normally kinda geeky looking, it's...scary.
(He's been reading my story on here...watch him stumble across this post! No offense meant! )

I'll try to find some pictures from our Halloween parties. Some of the costumes were very elaborate.
Wow! Snow White in fishnets!
When I was a little kid, I always decided what my Halloween costume would be and made the costume myself with help from my mom and my big sister. There was the inevitable cowboy and robot, and one year the Headless Horseman. I think I was a Roman gladiator one year, too; and then there was the year that I didn't have anything so I used my Wise Man outfit from the Living Nativity scene that we did out in front of the church the previous year.

One Halloween a few years back, we played spooky music through the outside intercom and had weird lighting (even a strobe creating lightning) and weird decorations with spider webs and plastic skeletons and Jack O'Lanterns and even mists created with dry ice at the outside entry. We dressed up in our best costumes and waited for the hordes of trick-or-treaters.
Trouble was, most of the kids were afraid to come to our door!
