Google Search Test

I've never been to fond of phpBB's search engine because it only shows you a link to a topic's first page. That works for short topics but you'll never find anything in the Tales of Happy Valley that way.

Google might work as an alternative, though. What do you think of this? Does it make it easier to find stuff?

Google

Since this is a straight Google search you should be able to use all the standard Google tricks like putting phrases in quotes and other things to filter the results of the search.

This is pretty cool! It's not as exhaustive as phpBB's search tool because the built-in search is always up to date, but it has all the Google features. It looks like Google is smart enough to realize that it's searching phpBB and formats the links accordingly.

I tried searching for "everyday outfit dl" and come up with a nice list of downloads of everyday outfits!

Is it possible to tell a form to pop a new window?

Do you know how often the webcrawler search site?
This works wonders for me in every board.

Now that you mention it, I have no idea. We could play wiht it to test it. I suspect that using the Google search is one of the things that causes the webcrawler to update its data table.

In retrospect, I'd say that my intent to add the Google search to the Hullabaloo's header was more ambition that ability. Obiously I still have not done this.
