Caution: Pretty big file. (I don't know why it's so much larger than other garments.)

Unzip the file psaflayerstop01.zip and save the .package file in your Downloads or SavedSims folder.

Let's go rummaging in Wilhemina's closet again.

Aha! Here's just the thing for the gal who wants to enjoy freedom, support, and modesty all at the same time. The dark blue sweater is knitted from the finest New Zealand wool with a strategic structure that enhances and supports so that you don't need a foundation garment. Add a stretchy tube reminiscent of the peasant blouse and you're ready for the office or even a night on the town!

The fabric of the tube top is very slightly transparent but nothing really shows except a hint of the skin color. I did that so that the outfit will look a little different depending on your sim's state of melanin deprivation.

* * * * *

What's that? You say you have a sim who is so brazen that she'd wear that sweater without the tube top underneath?

Well... we have it on the best of authority (that being Jonas) that Wilhemina has been known to wear this outfit to Mrs. Grundy's class and then slip off the tube as soon as she's out of Mrs. Grundy's sight. Enrollment in Advanced Social Engineering soared when she started doing that. Mrs. Grundy noticed that her class suddenly became much more popular when Wilhemina started dressing more modestly, which in turn lead her to hold much greater esteem for our irrepressible exhibitionist.

True to form, Mrs. Grundy assumed that the change was due to the fact that her prize student had stopped wearing offensive clothing so that all the guys who had been avoiding her class were now willing to enroll in it. This made her very happy because it gave her a chance to flunk that many more students.

Again in turn, this made the registrar happy because it provided her with the amusement of unflunking all those students and passing them on to General Giles Edward's class in History and Moral Philosophy, and the same time improved student morale so much that the average grade point for Happy Valley Universty increased by 0.13 points.

However, it made the chancellor of Boveena College quite unhappy because it means that Boveena slipped even farther behind their arch rival in scholastic achievement. She countered by attempting to hire the apparent root cause of HVU's success away, making a handsome offer to Mrs. Grundy to move to Boveena. Much to the disappointment of the Boveena chancellor, Ophelia Franks, and all the students at HVU, Mrs. Grundy realized that she was riding high on the gravy train where she was and turned down the offer.

So that fellow deviants need not be disappointed, you can also download psafrudytop01.zip, named of course for the maven of mammaries himself, designer Rudy Gernreich. With the weight of the tube removed from the manifest, this file is slightly smaller at 562 KB.

Warning: The "rudy" version of this garment doesn't have anything underneath the sweater except the necklace, so your sim will put on quite a show when she wears it. Not recommend for chilly weather unless you have someone to help keep them warm.

Tops like this look very nice with a pretty skirt, like some of the University skirts - it reminds me of a traditional Dirndl style top, the sort the Austrian peasants wore when my Mum was growing up! Although they wore them "lower" than that picture, more like yours... or maybe that was the more outgoing ladies Grin and they did wear them with a pullover like that in winter but I cannot find any pics.
We also wore similar tops in the Sixties, I used to have some knitting patterns for that style. Not with boob tubes though, usually chaste little blouses.

Any chance of some more colours? Pretty please? flower

Something like this...

Aha! Dirndl! That's the word!

I agree; it would look nice with one of those low-cut, poofy-sleeved blouses that ladies wear with a Dirndl dress. It wouldn't work so well with this mesh because the key feature of the Dirndl outfit is its religious* appearance. I'll need to learn to do new meshes before I can do all the stuff I'd really like to do with toy.

Sims seriously need some outfits that support (so to speak) really great cleavage. How else are the guys going to avoid eye contact?

Sure, more colors are easy now that I have all the rest all figured out. Got any favorite colors or patterns?

Yeah, what you said. It needs a skirt or slacks or shorts or something to go with it. I flipped through all the bottoms in my catalog and didn't find a darn thing that really worked. The gray skirt was a compromise.

Amusement: I woke up this morning thinking about that particular outfit and ended up working on it from 6:00 to 11:30 AM. I wanted to make a dress

*That is, low and behold.

Speaking of the dirndl, here's a social cause that's worth fighting for!

Yes, ideally red or green, strong primary colours please!

In the village my mum grew up in, Dirndl also meant a "wench", a young woman who is - erm - nubile. Pretty, AND affectionate. And the dirndl dresses were worn by the more outgoing young ladies. Also by bar staff, which I think is where you see them most now, and at the OktoberFest and such frivolities.

I got interested in them because my mum liked them and dressed me and my sisters in this style when we were very young, I guess about 11 ranging down to 5. We had dresses in bright scarlet red with full gathered skirts in the same red with spots of white, white pinny and simple white blouse. A very nice outfit for children.

And I did a double take at your post

until I figured out there was a comment underneath in what looked like a line....

I HATE those little bits in tiny fonts, I have to peer right into my screen to read them! angry9 but I can't miss them because they are often the punchline! Sorry but my eyes just don't read size 4 fonts! :tongue1:

oh! And layered white petticoats underneath! I think that can be done with the child mesh but not the adult.

Keywords to look for these styles on the Net BTW are Dirndl and Trachten.

Someting is awry. It ought to be showing up in 9-point Arial, the same font that appears in the editing window when you write a message.

I'll see if I can make some alternative colors today. I have to stop my game anyhow because this afternoon I installed the University patch (yeah, I know I'm a little slow about these things) and it messed up the censor blur.

Now I have to find a censor blur patch for University, if there's one still around.

Doesn't Quaxi's one work? The one we use for NightLife?

When I installed the Uni patch and censorGridSize stopped working, I installed Quaxi's null shader and the blur went away again. (The writeup says that it's for Nightlife, but afaict it's really for "all versions that have censorGridSize disabled, including NL and Uni-patched".) Give it a try! (It's nice because it's purely visual and doesn't hit any BHAV code at all; so I can't imagine it conflicting with anything...)

Of course, now I need to post that link over in the Necessary Hacks thread...

THEN I need to figure out why my elixir coolers won't refill...

Bingo!

In his writeup, Quaxi does say that he thinks it will only work with Nightlife, but it does work with the patched version of University.

So far that's the only negative change I've discovered about the Unvirsity patch that EA released in October 2005.

I haven't noticed any positive changes from the patch, but then, all the changes were fixes to stuff I don't recall ever noticing, so how would I know? lol

I installed it just because it fixed bunches of stuff that I don't want to ever happen in my game. I might have encountered some of the bugs and just worked around them.
