I should note that I haven't play-tested this one yet, so you can install it and make fun of me for missing something essential.

If you do need to tune up the dorm, you can make it editable with this:
    boolprop dormspecifictoolsdisabled false

That will unlock the build and buy mode goodies.

Bring your own park to view.

Addendum: I didn't furnish the rooms on the upper floor because you'll probably put your playable sims on the first floor, and NPC students don't really care what's in their dorm rooms.

Parkview has 14 student rooms in all.

it's fabulous Greg! But it is so big it won't work in my game. I had Raleigh Dorm for a while and it runs so clunky... do you ever make anything small?

Hmm... do you know what is a practical limit for the size of a dorm in your game?

If the problem is too many NPC students, try removing some of the dorm room doors. Then the game won't generate so many students.

Well, I need to experiment some more. In terms of the Maxis dorms I tend to find that more than 12 students is too much, even if mostly NPCs - but very large houses won't play either, or they crawl along. I made a very big house (really a stately home) as a dorm, myself, at http://www.justsimming.simshost.com/sims2/communitylots/dorms/bullersdorm.html

and it simply doesn't work for me.... scratch grinds along for a few minutes till it crashes and that was with only two playable students and a few NPCs. Same problem with it as a house.

I really enjoyed building and decorating it too but I can't play it <sob>

oops sorry for huge image lol - is there code to reduce its size on the BBS?

That could be a memory problem. I'm running 1.5 GB of RAM in my machine.

Or a speed problem; sometimes if I'm rotating a house while the sims are active, the game will freeze and the only way to get out of it is the power switch. Obviously that's a bug in the game.

Or it could be a speed problem related to how fast your graphics card can calculate all the transforming and lighting things, with an associated bug in the game software that doesn't gracefully handle an out-of-synch simulation.

The only solution I can think of to any of those, other than pumping up the hardware, is smaller houses with fewer objects on the lot.

Unfortunately, no. The only way to control the size of an image displayed by the BBS is the size of the actual image file.

There might be a mod out there somewhere that allows you to scale images, but I wouldn't bet that I'll ever find and install it.

yes. I wanna make some smaller dorms anyway so that's next. But I'll try and add some RAM.

Yeah, but the pool is "shielded from prying eyes." Darn! What's the fun in that? lol

The rooftop gardens are pretty cool, too!
Maybe, perhaps, I just might be tempted to reinstall Nightlife. Some day.
