SimGoddesses Vacation 2002

Here's one for Auld Lang Syne. It's been three and a half years, so maybe the statute of limitations has run out on this silly little story* and finally the tale can be told. Previously this was a secret known only to the staff members of the late, great SimGoddesses organization.

Long-time veterans of The Sims community may remember this image, which appeared for a few weeks on the front page of the SimGoddesses site with the title "Gone Fishin'".

Reportedly, we were on vacation somewhere in the Mediterranean. In truth, Bibi was in the hospital. During that time, I kept the staff amused with reports of the fun we were having during our fantasy vacation in the Aegean about the great sailing vessel, The SimGoddess.

Now, if you are an adult SimsHost subscriber, you can see the illustrated story with excerpts from the notes I was sending to the staff at that time. And if you want those skimpy outfits for The Sims 1, you can even download them!

Warning: That's a download for The Sims 1, not The Sims 2.

*Besides, nobody reads this stuff anyhow, so what's the risk?

Yes, it is! Besides, I had fun making those little pictures.

In that "Gone Fishin'" picture, all the lighting effects are Photoshoppery--the shadows, the sunlight on the water, the marks in the sand, and even the waves!

The really fun part, though, was trying to line up the characters with the background in Sim Pose. I think the shot of Samantha and the one with the sunbathers were my best work there.

Wait, so you mean that the picture of Samantha was done by taking an existing picture as backdrop and then getting the Sim to pose in just the right way to be dropped into it? Wow! Very good work indeed. It looks perfectly natural. (The whole series is very good that way, in fact.)

Thank you!

Yup, all of those pictures are composited with sims added to real-world pictures; and none of the real-world pictures are real.

F'rinstance, the real Salpterton Yacht does not have an image of Yggdrasil on its sail. There is only one Lake Amphibian in front of that villa.

Subtle one: Look at the picture on the wall in the background of the picture of Samantha, and compare it to the picture of Nancy in the bedroom. The plate of candy and the flowers on the table weren't in the original, either. Oddly, the table lamp, which looks kinda fake, is in the original picture.

The picture of the SimAngel yacht is composited, too. The boat wasn't really in the original picture.

In the sunbathing picture, I added the sims (obviously) and also the trays of food and the drinks.

Are you impressed yet? lol

SimGoddesses Vacation Item 2002
Chapter 1: Gone Fishin'

Y'know, just off hand I can't think of a reason why that story has to be behind an adults-only door dragon, so howzabout I just do it Hullabaloo style. It all started here:

Moments like this make life worth living.

The Guest House

We flew the BBJ into Athens, where we picked up one of Lake Amphibians for the last leg of the flight to the island. This is our guest house, which doubles as a convenient hangar for the airplanes.

Chapter 2: The SimGoddess

The SimGoddess Under Sail

When the SimGoddesses go fishing in the Mediterranean, they do it in their own style. Here you see our sailing yacht, The SimGoddess, under sail as she arrived at the island.

The SimGoddess is played in this story by Salperton Yacht, who kindly provided most of the base images.

Chapter 3: Serene in the Boudoir

Serene in the Boudoir

SimGoddess Serene threw her back out the first night aboard the yacht, about fifteen minutes after Greg snapped this picture. There are some things that one should not attempt while a yacht is under sail in high seas.

I actually had a SimGod name back then: Seraph. Nancy was Serene, of course, and Liss was Gaia.

Chapter 4: Samantha in the Saloon

Samantha in the Saloon

Serene snapped this photo of Samanatha in the saloon aboard The SimGoddess. Greg said she had just dropped by to discuss the Fourth International Trollops & Johns Tourney, but the goddesses seemed to hold a different opinion. At the time Serene took this photo, Greg was demonstrating the proper way to climb the mast while Byline was exercising on the desk, apparently juggling frying pans in the neighorhood of the mast.

Samantha was the first offical trollop and spokesmodel for Trollops & Johns.
