A Christmas Carol
The 1958 version, starring Basil Rathbone

Addendum: Actually, Basil Rathbone played Marley's ghost. Frederic March played Ebenezer Scrooge.

No really, It's a Wonderful Life. Very cliche of me I know. Funny thing is, I hadn't even seen it before until about 5 years ago. shocked

Rudolph for a happy memory. My son wanted to watch it one year as it would be his first time seeing it. He had spotted the ad running for it prior in the week. Just as it started and we saw Rudoph laying next to his mother in the snow....the power went out leaving us in pitch darkness. It was snowing outside so must have had to do with the storm. We waited a bit for the power to go back on but it didn't so I told Danny it might not be a bad idea to go to bed early. It was too dark to see and with the blower on the gas furance powered by electricity..it was going to get cold in there soon. So I piled up the blankets on the big bed and since my then husband was at work, told Danny he could sleep with me.

He curled up at my side and said, "Like Reindeers in the snow..."

Yeah, Scrooge and It's a Wonderful Life rank way up near the top of my list, too! I don't know that I've ever seen White Christmas all the way through, but of course the song was an important part of Christmas celebrations in my life up until the word "Christmas" became an obscenity.

In what? That Christmas has become an obscenity? Nah, that was just a wisecrack. It's pretty high on the new list of "17 words you can't say on television." (We needed a new list since now all television shows are required to have at least one word from the old list somewhere in their dialog.) Number one on the list is the ultimate obscenity, the Anglo-Saxon monosyllable "man."

Censorship on television is worse than it ever was. It's just that now we have a whole new crop of censors! Nevertheless, most of these new obscenities still fall into the general categories of religion, exceta, and sex!
