Last Sunday I saw The Messengers with my *ahem* new boyfriend, Eddie. Movie was kinda blah...it's one of those movies that puts all the cool parts in the preview, everything else was kinda boring.

That brings up the question: What is the role of royalty in British society?

To be the highest paid welfare recipients in the history of the world.

I watched The Last King of Scotland the other night. I'm fascinated with people like Amin, and this quote really sums up why: "You're a *child*. That's what makes you so terrifying."

I thought the Queen was one of the wealthiest people in the whole world. Thinking

She is. However, most of her money is tied up in real estate and other non-salable goods. Can you say cash flow problems?

Every member of the royal family is paid a stipend by the British government. In return, they make public appearances and open Parliament. Basically, providing spectacles. [sp?]

So when do we hear more about Eddie?

Marie Antoinette, with Kirsten Dunst. Lots of nice cinematography but unless you know the actual history, I feel like you're left going, huh? a lot.

Ghost Rider. They actually got the point! Hubby couldn't even pick many nits with it, and most of those might be reconsilable with the comic books published since we quit reading.

Over the weekend, I bought a box set of the Indiana Jones movies, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Temple of Doom, & The Last Crusade. According to the extras they didn't film them in Egypt, India, or Turkey.

I heard a suspicious rumor that Harrison Ford refuses to be a part of the 4th Indiana Jones because Hollywood no longer allows the use of real whips in movies. (Not sure why or if it's true). And the solution was to animate a whip with computers in post production. Ford wouldn't do the movie without a real whip. That's what someone told me anyway, and even if it's not true, it's kinda funny to think about.

Hmm... yeah, that rumor does sound suspicious. Even as nutty as some of the junk coming of Hollywood is these days, I don't see why they'd disallow using a real whip.

And even if they were that nutty, it seems unlikely that Harrison Ford would walk away just because of that one point.

Given that the actor in the Passion of Christ was actually injured despite precautionary padding, I wouldn't doubt that SAG demanded that whips not be used on their members.

But Indy usually uses his against inanimate objects, so I don't see how that applies. Unless they're including objects held by actors in the ban.

Maybe this is another bit of stupidity to blame on Mel Gibson?

What does Mel Gibson have to do with Indiana Jones's whip?

And, come to think of it, has this rumor made it to Snopes yet?
