Actually I don't have the Sims loaded anywhere on my system right now. We just did a complete wipe and reload and I'm currently trying to get all my programs back on here. I do most of my work on D drive and save C for games that are too old to play on XP. So will TS2 play on 98 or do I have to redo my whole system again? If that is the case, I may not even bother to get TS2 until the next time we have to do a complete wipe, because it is such a major pain in the arse to do it. My C drive is Win98. My D drive is XP.

Sita thanks very much for that link to The Silmarillion for Manwe. I didn't get him, but I love some of her objects and found C&C from that site. I think I have enough skins for now and objects and such. Now I just need to finish reloading my programs like Office and Sonic then I can reload The Sims and start playing again.

Thanks again.

Sims2 is supposed to run on 98. Body Shop does, and it's about 50% of the game's rendering engine...

Oh good. That means I can put TS2 on my 98 hard drive and TS1 on the XP hard drive. It's like having 2 computers in one when you have 2 large hard drives and it's neat that I can access files on C from D if I want to store extras there. Thanks for your information.

And Sita I agree, It is nice to have someone so willing to help. You and miros have really made things easier for me. Thank you again.

yes. It appears that if you have too many it can crash the game.

um - the worst thing is build mode stuff. Depends on the EPs you have installed. There may be more than you need to know here but I will put my info in anyway.

The limits appear to be (with all EPs installed) MAXIMUM, depending largely on the specifications of your computer, as shown in the table below.
The figures shown below appear to be the consensus in the Simming community.

Downloaded Objects (in the Downloads folder and subfolders)

12,000 to 13,000 files TOTAL
between 2-3Gigs in TOTAL
Downloaded Skins (files in the Skins folder)
Approximately 17,000 to 19,000 files TOTAL

Separate rules for Build Mode object downloads (doors, windows, Stairs fireplaces, fences etc.)
The workaround for this is to recategorise some items to eg miscellaneous or decorative.

Downloaded Walls
Sims 1
90 files

Livin' Large and up
65,000 files

Downloaded Floors
Sims 1
63 files

LL, HP, HD, Vac, UL, SS, MM
65,000 files

Sims 1, LL, HP, HD, Vac
200 items in each Build mode category

Unleashed, SS and MM
2000 items in each Build Mode category
