I voted "Both" on this . . . because although I love Sims 2 there are many things I miss from the Sims 1 series.

Hopefully, the new S2 EPs will bring us back much of what we miss about S1 and more. =)

I guess this is an older poll.... but...

I choose Sims2... I like the 3dness of it and the facial expressions...
but I miss all the EP's for the sims 1, and all the stuff I had w/ it...
I think I was able to decorate my houses much better in sims1...
more stuff.. er- I should say.. more usefull stuff..

University sucks...
NightLife is good...

I like University! Haven't installed NL yet... *8)

Looks like we need a "Which EP rules?" poll! lol

Although I really enjoyed The Sims, I'll confess that the improved graphics of The Sims 2 makes the original game seem lackluster by comparison.

On the other hand, The Sims 2 has many more elements of game play that I intensely dislike. I could play The Sims without essentially zero hacks or cheats, but I'd have no interest in attempted to play an unmodified version of The Sims 2.

I liked a few features that came with University.

I uninstalled Nightlife and won't consider reinstalling it until a set of hacks is available to negate almost every feature it added to game play. My experience seems to be the opposite of Kelly's; I'd say that Nightlife is the suckiest software that Maxis has ever published, and most likely the last bit of Maxis software I will ever buy.

I voted for TS1. It's the nostalgia, I reckon. Or maybe it's because I miss Makin' Magic. Or do I miss Unleashed? Either way, I miss it so much I redid Old Town in TS2. (I did six or so lots before finding some good versions of my favourites on the exchange.) Three more lots to go!

Has anyone seen a TS2 version of Lake Barrett (Lot74) anywhere?

k that answered my question smile

am thinking of doing an entire "nostalgia" set for ts2 based on lots from ts1

I too love the graphics and age transitions (until they hit adult I dont want my simmies to die!!!)
but I really really miss the stuff from TS1...particularly the Mackin Magic EP and the Unleashed EP...I want pets, spells and witches again!!!

You know what would be cool...
If someone did like the old walls, some of them... from sims1 for sims2...
That would be cute:) And some of the furniture I really miss too..
Makin Magic I loved for that one Mediterranean kitchen set it came w/.... Loved that....
Unleashed was another favorite... I just think in sims 2 if they did that, they should make
the pets age as well, and get bigger...
Superstar... was a favorite too..

Also, I'd never play the Sims2 again if I didnt have the raise aspiration cheat, and the
aging cheat, and the cheat to make your sim all in the green... Lol..

Also I liked about Sims 1 the ability to make people you know as the sims... or celebs...
that was cute... Maybe you can do that in Sims2, but that would be very time consuming,
I thnk..

And, I did have fun w/ University for like a week or two, but I guess I'm just always comparing
Sims2 to Sims1... I liked the EP's that Sims1 had:) Although, this next EP the business one,
has me excited about it...

I like Sims2 best because of the life cycle and genetics, it makes the game more real to me.

I don't like all the timed stuff in Sims2 or the vampires but the rest is done really well.

The next expansion, I'm really wondering about. I think I'd rather have an Unleashed like expansion next. More careers would be great but following them to work?

I voted S2 but forgot to post. I love not only the better graphics, but the better building features, and the way it has really added new dimensions to the game. I do miss the S1 expansions though, particularly superstar, unleashed, and makin' magic (hands down my favorite. I loved being able to make nectar and bake and stuff. I also loved the gardening features of unleashed).

I voted for the Sims2.

Unlike most of you here, I did not play TOS (The "Original" Sims!) very long (about a year or so). I bought Double Deluxe (The Sims and the House Party Expansion bundled together)

... and right on the back of the install disc was an advertisement for the Sims2 "Coming in 2004."

So I guess I was always waiting for the Sims2 to come out.

By the time I was addicted to the Sims (not long ... I think I'd bought all the Expansions in the space of about a month) I was already worried about how EA / Maxis was going to "mess up" the Sims with the Sims2. But I figured they knew better than to screw the franchise up, and I think most of you will agree Sims2 is an improvement on the TOS.

I will start another thread with some comments about stuff here. Just wanted to vote and give my reasons.

Regards,

I agree. Just a few weeks ago, I reloaded The Sims for the first time in a very long time, and I didn't even remember how to play it! It seem so rough compared to The Sims 2, now it's a wonder that I enjoyed it so.

But then, I had a great time with Super Marios Brothers 2 when it first came out. Even Pong!
