Chapter 88: Krator Thrope

Puna Mellon isn't the big news at Jeannie Jump's Weird Things Test Facility, though.

If you thought baby Barry was precocious, you just have to meet Krator Thrope, the alient infant son of Miss Lycan Thrope.

Krator Thrope

Krator learned Barry's escape-artist trick at a very tender young age, but that's not the oddest thing about him.

This is:

The alien baby's one and only desire is to repair a broken sink!

*8)

But now you've revealed to me that it's possible for babies to be platinum, I'm gonna want to do it! What are their non-sink-repairing Wants generally like?

Meh. 9's small fry compared to some other households that I know of.

(Repairing a sink? He's not even old enough to know what a sink is!)

Maybe it's because I'm a micromanager and the first thing I do in any lot if turn off free will. And I have yet to see an infant with any wants at all.

The odd thing about 9 is that this happened in the game without any mischief from me.

I don't even know how to turn off Free Will, so I always play with it on. blush

Most of the time infants don't have wants but once in a while they'll want to buy a flowerbed. At least Barry seemed have an obsession with flowerbeds. This is the first time I've had a baby want to repair a broken sink. Maybe he wanted a bath. smile

Addendum: Krator continued to be obsessed with that sink long after it had been repaired.

FWIW, this machine has 2 Pentium 4 CPU's clocked at 3 GHz and 1.5 GB of RAM. I have no idea whether The Sims 2 uses the second CPU; it might only be accessed by the video processing and CAD programs. I bought it to run Solidworks, which it does well.

Somewhere around here we were discussing my largest households, perhaps in this very topic. I think my largest household has 16 or so folks living in it.

Chapter 89: Verdant Obsessions

Life progressed, as life tends to do, at Jeannie Jump's Weird Things Test Facility. Once all the kids grew to be teenagers, Paul Mellon and Amy Jones felt comfortable with moving out to find a place of their own.

This was a relief to Amy because it meant she would have Paul all to herself, no longer having to wait in line until Jeannie Jump or Lycan Thrope got done doing calesthenics with Paul as her floor mat.

Jeannie and Lycan both got day jobs as scientists and reached the top of their careers, where upon an add thing happened.

Wanting Relatives to Take a Trip

Both of them became totally obsessed with having their children and family members abducted by aliens!

"I love you so much! I sure hope you get abducted by aliens!"

The kids acquired the same syndrome but eventually were able to work their way through it, returning to typical teenage desires. (George Kennedy was the beneficiary of the girls' interest in experiencing their first kiss. Sunny Uvsoaker was Krator's co-conspirator in that adventure.) But not their parents! Jeannie and Lycan have always been close friends with the local alien population, but now it has become a single-minded way of life for them!

Does this always happen to mad scientists?

Rofl! (She did have a good time being abducted herself, after all; she just wants to share...)

Does the game somehow know that you have Abduction hacks installed or something? Given how hard it is to get someone abducted in the unmodified game, that would be a *really annoying* set of Wants without the hacks.

I've had a few mad scientists now, and quite a few Knowledge sims in general, and I've never seen a Want to have someone else abducted by aliens. (Even the simple "meet an alien" or whatever it is want hardly ever comes up.)

fwiw...

Ok, I gotta know how you get infants to do anything but lie there.

The abduction hack is built in: Turn on the Testing Cheats and then shift-click on a telescope.

These two are my very first mad scientists. They are so new, in fact, that they've not yet made it to the lab on a dark and stormy night to do their mad scientist thing.

I first saw the want to have a sibling abducted in the Curious brothers. It might just be that after being abducted, Knowledge sims want to see their loved ones share the adventure.

On the other hand, family sims are the opposite. Once in a while even Sheba will fear that one of Her children might be abducted, which is why aliens are most emphatically not allowed over the hills in Happy Valley.

I think they're toddlers before they can escape...
