Inspired by the ghost stories posted by Marmy and Cat, I thought we should start a topic thread just for ghost stories! Grin

Here's my contribution!

Obsessively Neat Ghosts Can be an Asset to your Family

Sean was quite the neat freak during his short but happy life. He died of old age (after about three hours of life) and, having fulfilled his quest for knowledge, with his aspiration level at maximum platinum. He now enjoys a very happy afterlife in the wooded hills of Willows Morningside Cemetery in Happy Valley.

Most evenings, Sean spends his time visiting the other permanent residents. However, on this night he came to visit the funeral home where the living members of the Willows family had quite a party going on. Grandpa Willows is entertaining some young ladies in the spa while half a dozen people are enjoying the big-screen television.

Sean wandered around the house, passing within inches of every person, but didn't scare anyone. Instead, he invested his night in cleaning toilets! This is the third one he has cleaned tonight!

And, since I mentioned the place where Sean resides, here it is!

Willows Morningside Cemetery
216 S Morningside Drive
Happy Valley

If you look sharp you will see some of the other residents out for their nocturnal perambulations.

The small building in the foreground with the chimney is the crematorium. It serves a special function on the lot, serving as a gateway that locks out the living sims from the graves so that they do spend all their time mourning at the tombstones.

The black door on the side of the crematorium is a Sim Logical lockable door. NPC's can pass through the door, but no other sims can. That allows the gardener access to maintain the grounds in the graveyard. I try to have the living sims keep up the plants by the funeral home so that the gardener can invest her time on the areas that the living sims can't reach.

The tombstones that are turned around backwards are all places that other ghosts have visited.

The mausoleum on the hill behind the house is dedicated to Romance sims who died happy. Those ghosts haven't come out yet, but I'm wondering what mischief they'll get into when they do.

Do your sims drop out of the family portrait when they die?

The Willows Family

The four people with the blue halos are still living, but everybody else has passed on to that Great Sim Bin in the Sky.

Stranger still, those four were the original residents of Willows Morningside Cemetery. They are, from left to right: Cordelia Willows and her husband Samuel (smooching Cordelia), their daughter-in-law Allison (dark-skinned lady with blonde hair) and their son Brian (looking like Christ of the Andes).

The other five sims pictured are some of the many ghosts who live here. Four of them even show up in the other family screen:

Willows Family Individuals

I don't understand why those five, and only those five, appear in the family portrait. In my households that have more than nine living sims, I see the extras superimposed over each other in the spot where Brian is standing, but I don't see any other sims with him in the Willows family portrait.

I'm pretty sure that the five Dearly Departed depicted here were the first five customers of the cemetery, but if the game is going to show them in the family portrait I don't know why it stopped at just five.

Amusement: The lot immediately north of this lot is 206 S Morningside Drive, destined to become Willows Morningside Cemetery Block 2 when Brian and Allison are ready to move out on their own.

Did you ever wonder what the Grim Reaper's Hula Zombies wear under their grass skirts?

My hubby says he'd rather do without the grass skirt and just enjoy the view.

I'm with him!

I'll admit it -- the hula zombies are quite a testosterone rush.

The Willows Family

I found a solution! In this thread at the Variousimmers forum themaltesebippy posted the fix.

The trick is to use the SimLogical Teleporter Painting to bring the dead folks into the household. The dearly departed will show up for a couple of seconds. Then the game will display a message that the sim has died on another lot and after that, the sim will disappear from the Teleporter list and will no longer show up in the family portrait in the neighborhood screen.

I keep finding new old Greg threads that I somehow haven't read!

So how did you get a Hula Zombie to change into her swimsuit? The magic of the Mind Control Mirror, or...?

Even sillier than that. Wait for her to start fading away at the end of her dance and then snap the picture. The skirt goes first.
