This doesn't quite rise to the level of a story, but I just had to show off. *8)

In a previous life I was heavily into the ancient FPS game DOOM. Something reminded me of that game last night for some reason, and that connected in my mind to TS2, and well...

Might be a good setting for a Mad Scientist's lab or something.
Graphics no doubt copyright by id Software, or whoever's inherited them over the years, so I suppose I shouldn't put them up anywhere for like public download or anything, but hey...

(Had to take some size-mismatches into account; in DOOM those alien faces would have occupied an entire more-than-person-high wall. It was a low-res game.)

Returning you to your regularly-scheduled activities,

Thanks! One thing Doom had was nice synergistic sets of textures. There are actually three floor textures (or "flats" in Doom terms) on the floor: two different basic stones (but with identical edges so that they can be mixed and matched) and then the one with a grating (also with identical edges). Oh, and then the teleport-gate-rune in the corner (so four).

I made the walls by stacking three normal Doom walls on top of each other (three of the same for the basic wall, and two plain walls with one alien-face wall in the center for the special ones), due to the differences in resolution and aspect ratio.

There's a nice set of Quake textures on TSR now. I believe the textures from the ID games may count as open - I'll check on that.
