Installed expansions Uni, NL, OFB, Holiday Pack and FFS. Patched with the June 16th 2006 patch.
The garage door, driveway, driveway extension, exterior walls and interior wooden floors all require Nightlife. You must have TS2, Uni, NL, OFB, Holiday Pack and FFS installed to use the main download. I also recommend the June 16th 2006 patches.

Zip-File size: 1,657,564 bytes
Sims2Pack size: 3,966,998 bytes
Price: $202,673
Lot size: 6 x 5
No custom content.
No hacks.

Click on the picture below to download:

There is now a TS2 and NL version of this lot at http://www.woodensimolean.simshost.com/dl/houses/MikeD_8x2bedMultiplex_TS2-NL.zip This version was made in a game with only TS2 and NL installed. There are some fairly minor differences, the main one being that the driveway on the extreme right had to be replaced with a driveway extension. It's a little cheaper, but not enough to avoid money cheats. Zipfile size: 1316071 bytes.

This building was originally inspired by the plans at http://www.coolhouseplans.com/details.html?pid=16048

I've tried to capture the character as best I could while modifying it from a 4 x 3 bed to and 8 x 2 bed Multi-Plex.

If you want to use the lot as 8 apartments you could get away with MyneDoors and the Antipedestrian Garage Door from dolphin26 at http://www.modthesims2.com/showthread.php?t=117170

If you want to be able to put more than one sim in any one unit, then I recommend Inge Jones Security System (formerly Aparments) these days available from http://www.nectere.net/smf/. Scroll down the page and click on "Simlogical Stuff" then "Sims 2" then "The Simlogical Security and Dresscode system". I can't deep link as they use session IDs. The site was quite slow when I last checked it, so be patient.

The lot is unfurnished and only contains cheapo plumbing, lights and kitchen cabinets. Yes, I removed almost everything you see in the pictures, even the exterior lights and that silly little restaurant in the basement (do with that as you will).

Even so, it comes in at an hefty $202,673 so it may be only for more established sims, you know, the ones that have been motherloded or alternatively you could use
familyFunds [familyName] [value] to set the amount of funds, or Use
familyFunds [familyName] [+/-][value] to add/subtract from current funds.

FFS is not required, but I suspect all the large expansions are.

I was going through some stuff that I'd downloaded and not yet installed. Tried to install this and it said it required Expansion Pack data that is not installed. Only things I don't have installed are FFS and the Holiday pack. Any help?

Mike and I both have Holiday, but I don't have FFS. I guess Holiday is necessary! Sorry!

Just go to Maintain Your Account on the SH front page and ask for credit.

I didn't knowingly use any Holiday content. I bet the Sims2Pack file includes all the seasonal windows whether they're used or not.

Waah! I wanted this, too! Oh well, maybe I'll use the pictures and base something off of that for personal use, unless that would be stepping on Mike's toes...

Will it load the rest of the house? Or will the house not load at all?

It won't even let me install the .sims2pack file, so like Mike said, something from Holiday must've snuck into the download, intentionally or not.

Ah well. I just need to be creative and build my own apartment complex! Grin

Ok, there's a new version up. I think we should leave both up for now, as the TS2 & NL version doesn't allow quite the same driveway configuration. The overall appearance is the same though.

For those of you unfamiliar with sloped driveways in Sims2, the cars remain horizontal as they traverse the slope, so it looks a little funny, but it functions.

See the first post in the thread for more info and links.

As an fyi, there's about 1.2 MB difference in the size of the Sims2pack files, both are clean of custom content, so that 1.2 MB is all down to the extra stuff from the EPs. I wouldn't mind so much if HP was a real EP, but it's really only a few extra objects and some recolors. I didn't use any HP stuff at all.

Personally I think it's just another way for EA to pressurize people into spending more money.

I suspect that you're right. I'd be surprised if the marketing folks at EA did not put a lot of effort into figuring out how to maximize the incentive for people to buy their products. That's their job. smile

I'd prefer that they put the effort into producing outstanding, bug-free, user-friendly products instead of manipulating their audience, but what you see is what you get!

Great job, Mike! Definitely above and beyond the call of duty!

I'll put out an announcement later, when I do the koi tshirts...

I already had a version from before I installed OFB, HP and FFS, but in truth, since I had to work on my notebook, it would probably have been easier just to start a fresh one.
