Skipping to toddlerhood...

Kyle's baby years were entirely uneventful (they also seemed very sort; maybe he was born right at 5:59pm or something). His parents, now used to the whole Kid Thing, had time for their own diversions.

The Altogether

After I installed the Uni Patch, everyone was as usual standing next to whatever they'd previously been doing. Kaylynn had been in the shower, so she was standing there in the altogether.


"Do you feel a draft, honey?"

Unlike the other people in that situation (Gina Raptor was in the tub), Kaylynn spent a few minutes walking around doing things in the nude before looking down, noticing her condition, and putting something on. In fact she put on her PJs, which I thought was (also) funny. (Quaxi's null shader has removed the censorgrid from my game, so we've framed this in a wet shower door for the PG version.)

A baby! Wow! I don't think Kaylynn has had a baby in my game since before The Bomb, when she married Vidcund Curious.

Sims do seem to have an incongruous hang-up about nudity, even among infants, unless its in the vicinity of a hot tub. This must be a Fornyan thing. Like all Fornyans, folks at EA seem to have hangups about lots of things!

That shower door is neat! Is that from your game, or Photoshoppery?

Yep, Kyle's her third. She doesn't roll up "Have a baby" Wants (unlike Candice, who seems almost Sheba-like that way), but she does want to have three graduate from college, so there we are.

Even there, in that a Sim can easily be shocked by seeing (say) his wife naked in a hot tub. Silly Sims.

Thanks! Photoshop (lasso tool, select / invert, filter / distort / glass, filter / blur / blur more; or something roughly like that).

A partially-frosted shower door in-game would be a fun thing to take pictures through...

Off to College

So Zachary and Olivia had a busy social life


Home after a couple of nights out

but you can only go out so many times a day. And it was therefore getting frustratingly hard to keep their aspirations up.


A family conference over grilled cheese

Olivia: We've both got the Scholar's Grant and the Quigley.

Benjamin: You're still young, though; most kids don't start for another year or two.

Zachary: We could get a head start. A leg up.

Benjamin: I hear dorm life can be pretty stressful.

Zachary: We could stay in off-campus housing. Hermes says there's room in the house that he's renting with his girlf-- um.

Benjamin: Hermes Zoom? He's living with his girlfriend? That doesn't sound proper.

Kaylynn: We lived together before we were married, Benjamin. It didn't ruin us.

Benjamin: That's different, Kay; we were adults, we were responsible. You already had the magazine, I was in congress. These are just kids.

Zachary: The Zooms are very respectable people, Dad.

Benjamin: Well, that's true enough. What about you, Olivia? Would you be living in the dorms?

Olivia: I might. There are, uh, a few things I'm looking into.

Benjamin: That's good, do your research. What about that Danvers boy across the street? Justin? Didn't he go off to college recently?

Olivia: Oh, yeah, he did. Um...

Benjamin: Maybe he could help you find something. Good for neighbors to stick together, I always say. You went out with him once, didn't you?

Olivia: Um, yeah, once or twice.

Benjamin: Good, good. I suppose if you've learned everything that high school has to offer, college would be sensible. What do you think, Kay?

Kaylynn: I think so if you do, dear.

(Benjamin returns to his newspaper. Kaylynn and Olivia exchange significant smiles.)


Off they go. "Don't forget to look up that Danvers boy."
Well, off Olivia goes; Zachary went off in his taxi a few minutes before. Sims should really be able to share taxis.

And there you have it. It wouldn't be politically correct if EA had sims ogling nekkid persons, so instead they teach kids to have an aversion to nudity.

Olivia: I've got a few things to do. I'll catch up with you later.

Olivia: Hey, thanks, so! I mean, this is the house, is it? The Raptor place?

Justin: Yeah, you like it? People from the neighborhood've been living here for years. My Aunt Joan used to live here, and she swung things so I could take it over when Damion Cormier left.

Olivia: It's perfect. I wish I could live here.

Justin: Well, um, it's, I mean, small. There's only one bedroom.

Olivia (coyly): That'd be okay with me.

Yeah, well. Probably not EA's fault, really. The people with bizarre ideas on the subject are for whatever reason much more outspoken about it than the rational folks these days. At least here in the US of A.

(That actually explains the "censor blur over babys' bottoms" strangeness more than the "Sims getting shocked when they see nudity" strangeness. Maybe the latter is a poking of satirical fun at the Jack Thompson sort of prude...)

Heh. Now your political bias is showing. Sims' chuckleheaded behavior definitely did not come from the Jack Thompson end of the political spectrum. (But then, I have my doubts about Jack Thompson himself!)

I don't know anything about Jack Thompson's politics; I only know him as the guy who attacked the Sims because of how it explicitly depicts genitals, and how it can be used by pedophiles to show children and adults in indecent relations. Since both of those are false, he's either clueless or a hypocrite (or both). I'm sure if the game as shipped had shown (gasp!) nude babies, he would have used that as additional ammunition. Is he known to be significantly lefty or righty in addition to being grundy? *8)

If he saw what he sez he saw in S1, he saw a highly modified version, not "as shipped." He may also have blundered into a certain website which I visited once and was so grossed out, I a) didn't download anything (not that I wanted anything!) and b) didn't bookmark. Said website featured modified girls' meshes with huge breasts.

I wonder if there's an underground Sims community that swaps mods for pedophilia?

The stink that I saw him making was about TS2. But still as you say if he actually saw what he says he saw it must have been a very heavily modified version (at which point he should start advocating that Photoshop be banned, because it can be used to fiddle with pictures of all sorts of terrible things after all...).

Hope all of this isn't distracting everyone from the edifying and amusing stories... *8)
