Maxis wallpaper *cringes* Nice layout on that house!
No one is safe from that Sally...even Firefighters and Policemen are falling under her spell. If the Sims had a Soap Channel.....Sally would be a star!

Yeah, someone there has (urm) a sort of limited imagination.

Thanks very! It started out as the standard "European Townhouse 1 BR 1 Bath" or whatever, but that was a long, long time ago...

That explains it as the Euro Townhouse is my favorite starter home.

Ah, so maybe you know this! Now that I've used the standard shipped one to start Sally's house, it's not in the houses bin anymore. So what would I do if I wanted to put down another one in the same neighborhood? Is there some standard way / place to cause it to appear in the bin again (without destroying or otherwise endangering the existing one)?
Tx very!

Yes, and it's called Nighlife. NL will let you place a house in the lotbin as many times as you want. However, Sally will lose all relationships with everyone who doesn't live in the Love Nest.
Or, the other option is to get a pencil and some graph or squared paper. Draw it out square for square in an aerial view. Then build it on another lot. Time consuming, but worth it.

There's a long way round if you don't want to install Nightlife...
Pull out your whole The Sims 2 folder from My DOcuments, just rename it to The Sims 2 playing.
Now start your game up. It makes a whole new set of original hoods. Go grab the house, zip it up and then put your original game back, unzip the house and it's there again.
Alternatively it must be there in the templates but I don't know how you would find it.

Yeah, definitely not an acceptable solution. *8)

Thanks! I think I could also start a new custom neighborhood, put down an instance of the house, grab a copy of that lot, and then delete the new neighborhood. My fear with any of these methods, though, is that the new lot might share some mysterious internal identifier with Sally's lot, and cause various sorts of big fiery balls visible from space. But if people have tried them without bad results, I might consider it...
Tx again,

or... you could ask one of the people here who has the same EPs as you to send you a clean copy of the Euro Townhouse? Is it a Sims 2 one? If so I can?

Thanks for the offer! I think I can get it off of the CD, or using the new-custom-neighborhood method if I want to. What I'm actually looking for is a good solid reason to believe that it's a safe thing to do! (See my conflicting-internal-IDs worry above.)
I'm kinda paranoid... *8)

Go ahead, be adventurous :lol I've certainly had several instances of the same house in some places, sometimes in different hoods - used some of the Pleasantview lots in strangetown and other hoods, f'rinstance! While I HAVE had issues with my game, I don't have any reason to suspect any of those houses. Much more likely my problems were clashes with hacks. (I AM very very good at finding bugs, it's a special talent. Ask anyone on TSR |
Thanks! I'm not feeling adventurous in that direction right now somehow. *8) My programmer's intuition suggests that having the same house in two different neighborhoods would be no problem, but that having two instances of "the same" lot in the same neighborhood could well be something that wasn't tested or anticipated. (I find it suggestive, for instance, that the operation is "move this lot from the bin to the neighborhood" rather than "copy this lot from the bin to the neighborhood"; could have been done for gameplay reasons, but could also be a constraint of the way they coded it, in which case having multiples could be dangerous.)
So maybe some day when I'm feeling bolder. *8) (Or maybe I should finally create that Test Sacrificial Neighborhood that I keep thinking about, and try it there. But I'd probably just grow fond of the sims that lived there, and become reluctant to do anything toooo dangerous!)

yup yup. Test sacrificial hoods wind up becoming playing hoods... I did actually manage to kill off a family I made to test a house last night, but it was terribly hard... made easier by the fact that I used Verona, which I never play, and simply moved in a spare Maxis family - but it was a single guy, something Monty? with two kids so of course I made him a GF/bride. They were lousy parents and the kids got taken away... so I had him hit by a satellite and she died of fright - TOLAD version. Disappointing really, she just fell down.
Mind you, after that a very funny thing happened - Grim Reaper went into the house, upstairs, and sat and watched TV for a while!
But that said, testing stuff is fun. As Greg says, backups, backups....

Sally Fulfilled
The quest complete
As described at great length here and here, after a bit of complication
(Poor Brandon; she made up with him later.)
Sally Raptor has fallen in love with her twentieth very good friend
(Remington London, the nutrition-transport engineer)
and is now happy forever.
Hurrah!
(In fact she got her first two lifetime wants, had a mysterious visitor, bought some new custom clothes, etc, etc; details in the full stories.)
Now I can get back to the Townie Project. (Oh, well, and there's that "Sally is pregnant" thing to take care of...)
