Got him too though I am not sure where to fit him into my story yet.

Hmm... if it's not obvious, then both of them are different characters, so it really doesn't matter. smile

Tales of Happy Valley
Chapter 159: Six Score and Ten

Now, for a quick recap of amusing, if not significant, events on and about GD 130!

We'll start out with some not-so-surprising news.

Sheba is pregnant again.

Then, there was a blessed event at Her mom and dad's house, so She stopped by to visit.

She cuddles her baby brother Wyatt.

Now She has two siblings. Her sister Karen is a teen. That's Her mom in the blue and white top. Lucy is playing with Charleroi Eusaedi. Charleroi came home after work with Her dad, Melvin.

Back at home, Graham (Her 9th child) grew up to teenagerhoodness.

Graham Bennett. Great teen. Abysmal threads.

Graham immediately demonstrated his sense of good taste by tossing that outfit into the rag bin and pilfering his brothers' hand-me-downs.

Graham's New Look

And in a strange turn of events, over the mountain pass at Happy Valley U, Sheik Omar al Saiidi stopped by to visit Manse Collegium and, as if 14 wives weren't enough, ended up seducing the Socialist Worker in the room over the garage!

Sheik Omar al Saiidi and the Socialist Worker

Sheik Omar's conquest of the Socialist Worker has no bearing on any plot line but I thought that hooking up two of the most offensive characters in Happy Valley was hilarious. That the Socialist Worker was a theoretically unapproachable NPC added considerable to the mirth.

Besides, after getting the bejesus scared out of her in Bonnyview Shores, the Socialist Worker isn't inclined to be trying to steal any more babies. I had to give her something to do with her time!

Chapter 160: Whatever Became of Baby Barry?

Not too many chapters ago, Alexander, Amanda, and Barry graduated from college at the same time and moved back to the city. All three kids built houses across Westview Blvd from The Houstonian.

Northwestern Happy Valley on GD 132
The house right behind Barry and Gloria is the home of the Geieffies.
Pay attention. This may become significant a few chapters from now.
The house behind Conner and Amanda's home is unoccupied. This
has no significance whatsoever.

Alexander married redheaded Penelope, whom you may recall as the nanny who arrived at Manse Collegium one day and never went home.

Amanda is engaged to and living with the very engaging Conner Forsythe.

And then there's Barry.

When he was but an infant, Barry fell in love with Miss Gloria Baybrace while the family was living on campus at Manse Collegium. After the Bennetts moved back to the city, first to Manse Orleans and finally to The Houstonian, Barry grew up. By leaving Gloria in a Maxian Time Warp, he eventually caught up with her and the two were engaged when he went to college.

During their senior year, Gloria handled the contracts to build a home for them back in town. After her experience with Manse Collegium and The Houstonian, it's no surprise that the home she built for her beloved Barry was a tad larger than what they really needed.

Barry and Gloria's House on Westview Blvd

As soon as the house was ready to move in, their first order of business was to get married!

Conrad Crawford's wife's first name really is "Baby."

Chapter 161: Barry's Angel

Breakfast with Gloria

The day before their wedding, the young couple was discussing Barry's latest nutty invention.

"I'm sure it'll work," he said. "The hardest part is deciding what to call it!"

"What does it do?"

"It's either a teleporter or a machine to travel through the multiverse. I'm not sure which yet, but whichever it is, I'm sure it will work!"

"And you're going build it with spare parts from the helicopter?"

"Yup. Lots of good avionics and mechanisms there. I need the antennas, too."

"Then call it the Trans Universe Chopper Hopper!"

"OK."

"But I really think it can wait until after the wedding."

"Oh, right. OK."

With that small point settled, they welcomed their wedding guests and got on with the ceremony. They didn't have much furniture so they no difficulty arranging seating for everyone in what would one day become their living room.

Barry and Gloria's Wedding

It was a small, romantic affair, with just immediate family members invited. Of course, Barry being a Bennett and Gloria being a Baybrace, they had a lot of immediate family!

Just the immediate family
I only labeled the wedding guests whom I could see.

When the big moment came, Gloria was ecstatic. She had waited so very long for this, patiently stuck in that darn Maxian Time Warp while Barry grew up. All that time, she had remained faithful to her promise to wait for him. Well, that is, unless you count the occasional dalliance with Penelope. And maybe Della once ina while, but sisters don't count, do they?

She waited a very long time for this.

Although her life's experience along her personal timeline would make her much younger than either of Barry's parents, Gloria's memories extend back to the time before She was born and even before the Bennetts moved to Happy Valley. On that day, Gloria got more than Barry for a husband; she fulfilled her own personal lifetime want and finally became a full-fledged member of the Bennett family.

The symbolic feeding of her new husband was a really profound moment for Gloria. She was so distracted that a big chunk of cake fell off her fork and she almost dumped the whole thing on the floor.

Cutting the cake

"Oops! I dropped some! Careful, Barry, you're stepping in it!"

"Oh! Does this mean--"

"No, it means we have to clean your shoe."

"Oh, OK."

Sheik Omar al Saiidi is a rich Arab oil heir who wanted to get away from Persian Gulf politics and intrigue. Happy Valley was the logical place to move because, besides the perfect weather and low taxes, the town's lack of social-control laws makes it one of the few places in the world where he could keep all his wives.

He lives in a huge house down at the south end of town ,but he hasn't played much of a role in the Tales of Happy Valley. With 14 wives to tend to, he doesn't get out much.

I had a lot of fun figuring out how to build his house and how to get him married to all of his wives. The trickiest bit was getting it so that Sheik Omar and all his wives would all recognize each other as spouses.

However, once I'd accomplished the challenge of creating the household, I stopped playing that family because I really don't like him much. He keeps all his wives cloistered in a harem in the basement. They can venture out of the harem as far as the kitchen and the gardens, and to his bedroom if he unlocks the door for them, but that's it.

He's just not a likeable guy, y'know. I cringe every time he walks by a house I'm playing.

I'd snuff the household but I just can't bring myself to do it. (Does anybody else have this problem?)

Then one day he was walking by Manse Collegium (no doubt disapproving of the decadent western college life) on the same day that I had accidentally teleported in the Socialist Worker, who strikes me as the creepiest character in the game. I wanted to get rid of her, but didn't want to have any of my kids interact with her.

So I thought, "OK, Omar! Here's where I get my revenge on both of you jerks!"

Then I sent them to the room over the garage and I've felt better about both of them ever since!

Nevertheless, Barry and Gloria did not invite him to their wedding!

Chapter 162: The Wedding Party

Once the main rituals were done, the wedding turned into a big family reunion!

She had five daughters, but whenever she talked about "My girls" she meant, first and foremost, Greg's first offspring out of Her Aunt Winona, Sandra and Wanda. After a while, "My girls" also included his daughter Brenda, offspring of Narcissa Sapphos. That's Brenda in the background.

(Narcissa abandoned her baby on their doorstep and never even called to check up on own child. We should not be surprised that Narcissa is one of the few people whose friendship She does not seek. As far as Brenda is concerned, Sheba is her mom.)

Sandra and Wanda, the Affectionate Twins

Greg's father Ralph was amazed at the risqué formal gown that his mother Ada was wearing! Before she went to Dr. Tolad's Rejuvenation clinic, Greg's grandmother wouldn't have been caught dead in such a thing!

She didn't even notice what Grandma Ada was wearing. It was enough that "Her girls" got along so well together after all those years. This started when they were teens and they are still much involved with each other.

She was happy that "Her Girls" still got along so well.
I'm not sure who Barry was pillow fighting with, but the room filled with feathers as they did have the traditional post-nuptual pillow fight!

Nevertheless, all three of the girls are engaged to nice boys whom they see every day at college. Brenda is betrothed to Ross Addison and Wanda to Ross's cousin Breton Addison. Sandra is engaged to none other than Tommy Franks, Jr. Himself!

Long ago, Gloria's mother perished in The Bomb, leaving Gloria and her six sisters orphans. Becuase of that tragic event, there was no Mother of the Bride at this wedding; however, there certainly was the Mother of the Groom! As usual, once the formalities of the event were done, She became the center of attention.

Alex, Barry, and Brenda line up to kiss their mom

Papa Ralph had to wait his turn to get Her attention, and Mama Marie (behind Ralph) was merrily amused by the whole thing, as was Grandma Hazel (in pink, bearing a striking resemblance to Evangeline).

Chapter 163: Welcome to the Family, Gloria!

Greg and Gloria

With his number one date monopolized by Her children, Greg was left on his own. He occupied his time trading smooches with his new daughter-in-law.

In the game, they spent several minutes autonomously kissing each other. It was cute. I got the feeling the sims had suddenly discovered that they could do family kisses and were making up for lost time.

More Kisses from The Girls

Attacted by Gloria's expression of affection for her shiny new father-in-law, Sandra and Wanda also made sure that their daddy did not get away unsmooched. It was a wedding, after all, though these two never missed a chance no matter what the occasion.

The party went on until the early morning hours, when finally Barry and Gloria were able to shovel the last of the family members out the door.

Chapter 164: Wedding Night

Alone at last! Up 'til now, it was just practice! This was the main event!

Barry and Gloria

She had bought those boxers for him as a souvenir of their trip to Las Vegas. Being in an indulgent mood, he wore them to amuse her, just this once. Of course, she knew what would amuse him!

On their wedding night, they hit the jackpot!

Maybe the boxers did the trick because on their wedding night, they hit the jackpot!

Barry enjoyed ogling his wife even more after her pregnancy started to show.

Once she started to show, Gloria took to wearing naught but her own custom censor snake to bed. Barry seemed to enjoy ogling his beautiful wife even more then!
His dad is like that, too. Perhaps it's genetic.

Chapter 165: Continuing the Legacy

Gloria's pregnancy progressed normally and at 7:32 AM on a Friday morning, she provided Greg and Sheba with their first grandchild when she gave birth to a handsome young lad whom they named Aaron.

Aaron Bennett, Son of Barry and Gloria, born GD 130

Barry was there to celebrate the birth, but all too soon the time came for him to go out to continue another part of the legacy that he inherited from his parents. At the same time, he achieved his lifetime want for the second time, and in fact made another step forward in his quest for world domination, because now, Barry is...

Chapter 165: Kicking Them Out of the Nest

While Barry and Gloria were busily manufacturing the next generation, Barry's younger brother Graham was merrily applying for scholarships.

They had lots of space at Manse Collegium so Graham called Neil to ask if he wanted to go to college, too. "I can talk 'em into putting you up at Manse Collegium so you don't even have to worry about housing expenses!" he said.

"Great!" Neil said. "But, erm... let me call you back in a few."

Less than five minutes later, the phone rang. It was Neil. "All right! I'm all ready to go! Meet you at the bus stop?"

"Nah, don't worry about the bus!" Graham said. "Just grab a cab and c'mon over here. Dad loaned the helicopter to Uncle Giles but Mom said we can take the limo. The driver is so bored he's out in the garden pulling weeds! I want to do a bit of shopping before we leave town, and need to stop by the Toddulaungas on the way and pick up Lacy."

"Lacy's going to college, too? Terrific!"

Cally welcomes Neil to Manse Collegium while Graham and Lacy celebrate their new collegiate status.

They were cruising through a mixed forest of live oaks and Southern yellow pines when Graham surprised Lacy with matching sweaters. He had picked them up on the way over to her house. She was thrilled with the romantic thought and insisted on putting on her new sweater right there in the limo.

Neil held his hands over his eyes while Lacy changed her top. It wasn't like he hadn't seen 'em before, but the intimacy of the back seat of a limo just wasn't the same thing as sunning by the swimming pool. Giving her some privacy seemed the propitious thing to do. Besides, he didn't want to greet his girlfriend with images of Lacy's charms dancing in his head!

That afternoon, the limo dropped them off at their new home on campus. To Neil's delight, Cally ran out to greet him. She offered him a tour of the campus, but they couldn't get the attention of Graham and Lacy; they were off in a world of their own.

Neil proposes to Cally and Graham proposes to Lacy.

Before anyone did any shopping, though, the guys had a surprise for their girlfriends. Sweaters weren't the only thing they had bought during their brief shopping trip in downtown Happy Valley. While they were out and about, the boys had visited the local jeweler to pick up diamond rings for their beloved ladies!

The girls accepted their suit and for both couples, the first loop of the knot was tied!

Chapter 166: Purloined Privacy

"Hey hero, we have the house all to ourselves!"

With Graham off to college, there were no kids at home. For the first time in a very long time, they had the house all to themselves!

Quite predictably, the limo had just pulled out of the driveway when happily pregnant She made it clear to Her husband that this condition was something to be celebrated!

Fortunately, the glass-topped dining table and the leather love seats are very easy to clean, and Lucy says she can get that spot out of the rug in front of the fireplace.

Owing to certain events happening elsewhere on campus at the same time, the censor snakes were beyond exhaustion and threatening to go on strike, so I was forced to frame this shot very carefully!

Footnote: She was carrying Hiram during this interlude.

Chapter 166: A Tale of Two Houses

Nihale199 wrote:

Right: Greg, Sheba, and Barry.

Nihale199 wrote:

The Schuylers are an example of why it's hazardous to write a story interactively. I thought something was developing between their daughter and one of the Bennett boys, so I introduced them to the story. It didn't turn out that way, so they've been happily living in their little Maxian Time Warp and just groovin' to the music.

That brings us to the main point of this episode--the Murphy House.

Cleo Murphy's House

Cleo's house is not, in fact, the Smith residence from Strangetown. She built this place from the ground up with money earned from her own hard work as a research scientist.

Born in Strangetown, Cleo Murphy is another of those who moved to Happy Valley in the aftermath of The Bomb. She has friends all over town, but her One True Love was lost forever in The Bomb. When she is alone in the dark of the night, she still pines for that once-glorious romance. This has left her emotionally scarred and afraid to get involved again.

Knowledge, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Hamburgers

She did have a short-lived fling, long ago, with that Bennett rascal. He was a teenager back then, and just what she needed as a salve for her loneliness--willing, available, unattached, and unlikely to be looking to sweep her into a long-term commitment that she couldn't handle. (The fact that he was the only unattached male in the city at the time might also have had some bearing on her decision to seduce the youngster.)

Cleo watched as She grew up and wrapped him around Her little finger. Among all the women in Happy Valley, she was probably in the best position to be more amused than disappointed when She suddenly took him out of circulation.

Nowadays, whenever she gets lonely, Cleo will invite herself over for a gossip session with Sheba or a mind-expanding game of chess with Greg. Mostly, though, she is content to pursue her career and build on to her house.

Admittedly, the Murphy house is built along architectural lines similar to the Strangetown Smith house, but not nearly so closely as the Wilburn house!

The Wilburn House is the Smith House!

When Daniel Wilburn and his sister Karen first arrived in Happy Valley, they found this lovely two-story wood frame house vacant and available for immediate occupancy. One day, not long after they moved in, a lovely lady named Jenny Lawson stopped by and told them the story of their house.

A few years back, Jenny lived in that house in Strangetown with her husband, Pollination Technician #9 and their two children. Their son Johnny was full grown and happily married. Their daughter Jill was just barely a teenager. Over the years they had expanded and made significant improvements to their home. They were quite content, looking forward to growing old together and watching their children grow to adulthood.

Then The Bomb hit, and Jenny's life was shattered.

Jenny and Jill were resurrected after The Bomb, but her husband and her son were lost forever. Determined never to give up, Jenny had her house moved over the mountains to Happy Valley. Through their mourning period, she and her daughter lived in that big yellow house.

Then, one day, Collin Lawson and his sister Colleen moved to town. Collin swept her off her feet and soon she found herself standing before Rev. O. E. Bennett and taking their vows. Jenny and Jill went to live with the Lawsons in their home on Westview Blvd and put the old place up for sale.

Jill has since grown up and gone to college, but Colleen still lives in that big house, just next door to the Bennetts' Houstonian, with Jenny and Collin.

Soon the irony was complete, when Daniel did a little feet-sweeping of his own and persuaded Kimberley to marry him.

Karen waits to smooch her brother while he entertains his pregnant wife.
It was the old joke about the alien and the oil rig.

Today, Daniel and Kimberley Wilburn share the old Smith place with his sister, Karen. They are a happy and affectionate family, and quite fond of their neighbors. Like Colleen Lawson, Karen is still waiting for Mr. Right to come along, but not particularly worried that he may never show up.

Chapter 167: Amarilla Does Sheik Omar

Once again, the copy editor at the Happy Valley Tribune did a bit too much celebrating one night. He didn't notice that Amarilla submitted the wrong version of a story or that editor-in-chief Perry White had added his own caustic comments. As a result this story went to press in the late edition.

Happy Valley Tribune
FRIDAY GD 132 LATE EDITION

MAN IMPRISONS 13 WOMEN!
Exclusive Photos of Arab Oil Sheik Lurking in Happy Valley!
Captain Hero Ignores the Plight of the Victims!
Amarilla Allspin, Reporter for the Society Pages

Amarilla Allspin Amarilla Allspin
This is your investigative reporter, Amarilla Allspin, with an exclusive exposé, because you have a right to know!

Sheik Omar al Saiidi may seem like a quiet, assuming business man by day, but by night he lives a life of sybaritic luxury surrounded by 13 women that he keeps imprisoned in the basement of his house!

With great risk to life and limb we smuggled a secret camera into al Saiidi's den of iniquity to bring you this exclusive report!

Low-Light Camera Reveals al Saiidi's Prison Compound!

If you happened by the big house down the hill at the south end of town, you probably would have thought nothing of it. It looks like just another mansion in a city of mansions. But you would be wrong. Inside those high stone walls and iron fences, 13 suffering women are imprisoned by a ruthless Arab oil shiek.

Living under his iron fist, these poor women are never allowed outside the compound. They spend their days languishing in hope that this wretched sheik will deign to pay some attention to him, filling their empty days as best they can with their personal hobbies.

Arab Sheik Disports Himself With Naked Wives In Swimming Pool

Wearing clothes is a privilege, not a right, in al Saiidi's den. Informed sources tell us that only Sheik Omar himself is allowed to wear a swimsuit in the swiming pool

We confronted Yakootah al Saiidi, one of the sheik's wives, downtown in the sportswear section of the Aberfitchie & Crom department store. Wanting to hide her dismal state, she refused to be interviewed on camera but thanks to our exclusive hidden microphone we caught the entire interview on tape!

"What do you mean, burkah?" Mrs. al Saiidi said. "I've seen them on television but I've never worn one. That's one of the reasons Omar wanted to move to Happy Valley. He really wasn't happy with the way things were developing over there and wanted to go some place where we could have more freedom, so here we are!"

"Oh, excuse me a moment. Yes ma'am! That's the one I saw in the catalog. Can I get thirteen of these bikinis in a mauve color? Oh, no problem, we're all the same size. Yes, right. You can deliver them at the same time you deliver the thirteen silk blouses and the diamond bracelets. But if any of my wives come in, please don't tell them about it! It's a surprise!" [CUT THIS PARAGRAPH BEFORE SUBMITTING. --AA]

"Now, Ms. Allspin, what were you saying about the burkah? They look like they might be warm and comfy on a cold, blustery day, but otherwise I wouldn't be caught dead in one!"

There you have it, dear reader! This terrible man forces his "wives" to wear what he wants them to, under threat of death! He even strips them of their individual identities by forcing them to wear all identical clothing. Captain Hero, why do you neglect these poor women?

Even worse, the suffering damsels are often punished for getting even a tiny spot on the meager clothing the sheik parsimoniously parcels out to them. Their punishment for the tiniest infraction of the rules is to be forced to go naked to the dinner table where they consume the thin gruel he allows them.

"Oh, I love clothing!" Mrs. al Saiidi said. "The sheik buys us lots of clothing! One of his favorite things is to take us on a shopping trip, one at a time, so that he can focus his attention on whichever one of us he is shopping for. The hardest part is finding thirteen different fragrances that we all like, so that we all smell different."

"I'm very particular about my clothing. Just last night at dinner I dumped an entire gravy boat while I was serving the pork chops-- Yes, we eat pork; that's another of our husband's pet peeves so if you run into him don't get him started on it! Anyhow, last night was one of those times we dressed all alike, just because it makes him pay more attention to which of us is who. We do that all the time. It annoys him but he likes it at the same time, so who can say? So, I spilled gravy all over myself . I didn't want to eat a cold dinner alone, so I just tossed my clothes into the hamper and ran back to the table in just what Nature provided! The sheik really liked that!" [CUT LAST TWO PARAGRAPHS. DON'T LET PERRY SEE INTERVIEW TRANSCRIPT. --AA]

Oppressive Sheik Forces Wives to Dress Alike and Punishes Them By Taking Their Clothes Away

Some of the more prominent Happy Valley citizens are well aware of the plight of these wretched women. Rather than risk their opportunties for profiteering with the oil sheik, they choose to turn their back on them. Reliable sources told us that the Franks brothers have been seen coming and going around the al Saiidi compound, so we confronted them at the community pool.

Tommy Franks, the baron of Franks Ranch, told us, "Why yes, I've met the al Saiidi family. In fact, I sold them five acres down in the bottom land for his estate. No, not the sheik himself. It was his wife, Zahirah who stopped by the ranch to ask about that parcel of land. There are too many underground springs to farm the land so we were just using it for pasture. I was getting tired of having to rescue cows from the sinkholes so I let them have it for a song. Zahirah was confident that they could work around the springs when they dug their foundation. Having abundant fresh water on the property seemed important to her."

"When they first moved to town, I went down there with Carl and Bobby to introduce ourselves. I was still worried about those springs and really wanted to make sure they were happy with the deal. Nothing to worry about, though; they did a great job rerouting the springs. Bashirah showed me their plans for a really beautiful water garden that would take maxium advantage of the springs. Did you know that three of the sheik's wives have degrees in civil engineering?"

Bobby Franks told us about how the sheik keeps his "wives" isolated in their prison. "Oh, it's a big family but they seem to be content to keep pretty much to themselves. They seem to be happy with each other's company. I think it's the life they're used to, and it will take a while before they get used to the social life here in the valley and start venturing out. Maybe their previous experiences made them agoraphobic. Just give them some time."

"They didn't make us feel unwelcome," Carl Franks said, "but I got the impression that Sheik Omar would have been more comfortable if we had brought our wives with us. Frankly, I would have been, too. While Aneesa--that's another of the wives, y'know--was taking us on a tour, we stopped by their swimming pool. Amazing architecture. The pool is open to the air and the sky, but completely surrounded by the house. Well, anyhow, there were at least half a dozen naked ladies in the pool. Yeah, they're still getting used to their freedom here and sometimes they go overboard; not that our family is much different. Anyhow, I really wasn't looking forward to getting home and telling my wife Donna about the naked women in the pool. It would have been a lot easier if she had been there with me to see for herself." [GOTTA RESPIN THE WHOLE INTERVIEW WITH THE FRANKSES. WITH SOME CAREFUL EDITING, THIS WILL BE GOLD! --AA]

We attempted to contact the police commissioner about this as well as the growing family of Captain Heroes, but none of them were available for interview. How long will this sordid situation be allowed to continue to exist in our city?

[YIKES! CUT THIS CRAP BEFORE WE GO TO PRESS. RERUN THE PIECE ABOUT THE PREGGO PARTY INSTEAD. AND TELL AMARILLA THAT I'LL SEE HER WORTHLESS ASS IN MY OFFICE IN THE MORNING! --Ed.]

DC asked about Shei Omar al Saiidi and his family, so here they are! After thinking about it, I realized that these are some of the happiest sims in Happy Valley. All their wants and needs are fulfilled and they live happy, productive lives. Looking at their relationships, they are 14 people, all happily in love with all 13 of their spouses, and each of them recognizes the others--even the wives--as spouses.

I was thinking of his family like Amarilla would and not really giving them a chance, so I decided to write the story from Amarilla's point of view!

Erratum: Previously I said that Sheik Omar had 14 wives. I was wrong. There are only 13 wives, plus The Sheik Himself.
